This homeowner lives on Madison's west-side and spends a good chunk
of their warm weather time out on the deck. After years of use and time spent weathering, it was
time for a new deck. First of all, we removed all of the old deck material. We did reuse the
existing steps, but all of the joists, beams, and posts were new pressure treated lumber. The decking
material is in slate gray, made of a cellular PVC composite material from Azek. The 1x12
fascia board wrapping the vertical edge of the deck is that same slate gray color. The railing is from
Trex in their Artisan line of composite deck materials. This homeowner wanted a replacement deck
carefully built out to match what they already had in the space and with no harm or stress to the
trees. We really like how the completed deck turned out. The homeowner was happy too!
